INSIDE THE BALL PARK -- Click on any photo to enlarge

PNC Park...it has a real nice feel, very comfortable, feels like an upscale Triple A park.  It doesn't have the number of billboard sponsors that you see at Citizens Bank, it's less cluttered.  Very homey.  Sadly, it stinks that they don't open the gates until AFTER the Pirates have had batting practice (BP).   That means your chances of catching a ball during BP are cut in half.  It's also deeper to the stands than some of the other fields we've been to plus there aren't a lot of Pirate or Rockies sluggers so BP balls were a challenge to get.

The gates open as the Rockies begin doing their BP.  A few HRs were lofted into the stands.

In this photo is pitching phenom and Cy Young candidate Ubaldo Jimenez.   He started the All-star game, pitched a no-hitter in May and is 17-2 with a 2.61 ERA having struckout 135 in 148 innings.  He's a stud.  As he flagged BP pop-ups in CF, fans were tossing him things to sign....he'd autographed them and walk them back to the fans in the stands.  In all my years of going to MLB games I've never seen a player so fan friendly.  It was very cool and he wore a smile on his face the entire time.
